I was born on the south side of Chicago. I lived and worked there for the first 31 years of my life. I graduated from Whitney Young High School and University of Illinois at Chicago. I attended First Christian Church of Chicago from the time I was a baby. It was there that I met my wife, Lois. We were married in 1987 and five years later we moved to Augusta, Georgia. After moving back to Chicago from Georgia in 2000, I returned to First Christian Church of Chicago, where I am now an Elder. Lois and I adopted two beautiful daughters in 2009.

Years ago I heard a well-known Christian radio host say, “I am not a theologian, but…”  I thought to myself, here’s this guy who is on the radio talking about matters of family, church and Bible, and he says, “I am not a theologian.”  Really? It made me think, what is a theologian?
