After much thought, I have decided to wade into the blogging pool. I’ve long had an itch to write, but what to write about?
The advice I’ve always heard is, write about what you know. I’ll be sharing from my own life as a Husband, Father, Businessman, Elder, Employee, Homeowner, etc.
They also say write about what you are passionate about. I have an eclectic body of interests including history, science, current events, the nature of God, politics, and the Bible. Therefore, I’ve decided to call this blog God, Earth and Other Fun Fantastic Stuff. By an amazing coincidence those words happen to spell out my first name and last initial.
Whatever experience we go through, whatever topic we discuss, I think we can find God in there somewhere. I’ll be looking for Him as I touch on topics ranging from grief over the loss of a child to leading in a church. I pray that my musings will stir readers to think more deeply about God and His universe. Even better if it sparks some dialogue that in turn spurs me to think more deeply about God and His universe. In the sense that I hope to have a rational discourse on the nature of God, you might even call it theology.
I know from past experience as a teacher that the very process of preparing material will increase my familiarity with God. Teaching can be one way we humans come closer to God. There are many other ways people come to God. Some people come closer to God through music, some through nature, some through acts of service.
One of my favorite ways to experience God is through His creation – mountains; brooks and trees; sunsets; clouds and stars. What makes you feel closer to God?
There are things that draw me to God, like a beautiful sunset or watching a mama with her baby; and then there are things that sends me running to Him so He can make it better.
